FreeSite Website Builder App Review
FreeSite Overall Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5)
FreeSite lets you build a website of up to 7 pages, and you get a tremendous amount of value in the app, for free, without advertisements or hidden fees. My favorite feature is the Graphic Customizer, which has everything you need to design your website.
FreeSite is a simplified version of SimDif, and doesn’t include advanced features like ecommerce, POP SEO, and an AI assistant called Kai, which are offered in SimDif. You can read more about the extra features you can expect in our review of SimDif.
Just as in SimDif, you can create a website from start to finish from within the app, and the editor is intuitive and easy to grasp.

FreeSite is a simple, mobile-first website builder designed specifically for creating "free" websites directly from your smartphone.
With more than 100,000 downloads and a 4.4-star rating from over 700 reviews on Google Play, FreeSite appeals to those looking for an easy way to create an online presence without having to pay for a feature loaded app. FreeSite allows anyone with a phone to create a website for free, with the option to purchase a domain or use a free name ending with simdif.com.
FreeSite offer a complete website of up to seven pages free of charge, without advertisements or hidden fees. It serves as a basic, simplified version of SimDif, offering fewer advanced features but providing all the essentials needed to create an online presence.
This review covers FreeSite’s strengths and limitations across 7 key criteria – outlined here – to help you decide if it is the mobile website builder you need for your next website.
1. Ease of Use & Clarity ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5)
FreeSite offers an intuitive, guided setup process suitable for beginners.
A standout feature of FreeSite is that it allows new users to test a demo website without needing to register first.
When you first login, you'll see a guide which clearly show what each navigation item means and what it is used for. Arrows and prompts clearly direct you through the main features, helping you to get comfortable with the layout.
The mobile editor features a clear, accessible menu in the header, providing three primary editing modes:
- Pencil icon for content editing
- Hand icon for repositioning blocks
- Trash icon for deleting blocks
These 3 menu items are where you will spend most of your time when building your website.
Pros:
- Easy-to-follow onboarding experience
- Clear navigation with helpful visual guidance
- Beginner-friendly layout
Cons:
- The app can seem slightly overwhelming initially, due to numerous menu options
- Limited theme choices compared to other apps
2. Features & Functionality ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5)
FreeSite includes many of the essential tools needed to create basic web content, such as text sections, image uploads, video embeds and buttons for navigation. Images can be uploaded easily or used directly from Unsplash’s free library, which is very convenient.
Included with this free app, you also get access to simple visitor statistics – how many visitors your website received in the last 24 hours, 7 days and 5 weeks.
Block repositioning makes content placement effortless. Basic editing of fonts and colors is possible, but many of the more advanced customization options found in SimDif are not available. There are no custom call-to-action or social media buttons in FreeSite
Unlike SimDif, FreeSite does not include AI assistance, making it more suited for people who prefer straightforward, manual content creation.
Pros:
- Basic website-building tools are easy to use
- Smooth image uploads with access to Unsplash
- Convenient block rearrangement
- Free website analytics to track how many visitors you're getting
Cons:
- Maximum of 7 pages
- No AI assistance or tools
- No custom buttons
- Limited features in general
3. Design & Customization ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (3/5)
FreeSite provides 12 basic themes, with options for the customization of fonts, color schemes, and menu labels. Editable sections are clearly marked, making it easy for beginners to personalize their websites.
Everything you need to edit the look and feel of your website can be found under the paint brush icon in the header. This will allow you to change fonts, colors, menu design as well as add header images and more. However, you are limited to a single fixed layout structure.
Pros:
- Easy, clear customization of basic elements
- Fully mobile-friendly editing environment
Cons:
- Single layout structure limits flexibility
4. Performance & Speed ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5)
FreeSite performs exceptionally well, providing a smooth, lag-free experience both within the editor and on published websites. Page navigation and content editing respond quickly and reliably.
Edits made on mobile devices sync immediately, making updates easy across other computers and tablets too.
Pros:
- Excellent performance without lag
- Fast loading times for editor and websites
Cons:
- Uploaded images are not reusable within the app
5. SEO Capabilities ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (3/5)
FreeSite offers basic yet helpful SEO tools, allowing users to set Page Titles (H1) and meta titles with the app providing simple, straightforward guidelines to improve search engine visibility.
I specifically liked the section below Page Titles which provides actionable tips for writing a title that will make your pages easier for search engine to discover and rank in the results.
More advanced SEO features, including POP SEO and Kai AI assistant which are offered in SimDif, are unavailable. This makes FreeSite suitable primarily for people who only need basic SEO functionality and whom website discoverability is not at the top of the list
Pros:
- Easy editing of meta titles and descriptions
- User-friendly SEO guidance
Cons:
- No advanced SEO customization or tools
6. Pricing & Value for Money ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)
FreeSite delivers excellent value, offering essential website creation tools completely free for up to 7 pages, without hidden charges or ads.
The app includes minimal branding in the website footer, where a tiny pill button with "Made with FreeSite" is located. This is less prominent and distracting than found in other free website builders.
Those needing more advanced features or additional pages can seamlessly switch to SimDif, with all the site edits you've made automatically synced, so that you can upgrade if you choose.
Pros:
- Fully free without hidden fees or ads
- Essential tools available at no cost
Cons:
- Limited to 7 pages
- Advanced features require upgrade to SimDif
7. Customer Support & Communication ⭐⭐⭐☆☆ (3/5)
Customer support is accessed easily via a dedicated help icon within the app, offering FAQs, concise guides, and an option to send a direct message.
However, there is no live chat available, meaning response times can take up to 24 hours. Live chat support would have been nice to have, but you can still get reliable help should you need it.
The comprehensive FAQs and guides ensure that you can find answers to almost any technical questions you may have.
Pros:
- Accessible in-app support and comprehensive guides
- Reliable responses within 24 hours
Cons:
- No live chat feature
- Potential delays in getting immediate help
